About This Job
We are looking for an experienced automotive transmission builder, specializing in late-model automatic light-duty to medium-duty gasoline and diesel fuel transmissions. This includes domestic and import applications of modern 6- through 10-speed units.
You will work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment, consistently bulding at least two complete transmissions per day, while maintaining strict quality standards.
We are looking for a disciplined professional who values attention to detail, follows processes, communicates clearly, and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
Compensation
$25 - 40 / hour
What You Will Do
Rebuild late-model automatic transmissions (8-, 9-, and 10-speed, and similar platforms)
Work on both domestic and import applications
Meet production expectations of two or more completed builds per day while maintaining quality standards
Perform complete teardown, inspection, cleaning, reassembly, and testing preparation
Identify and document root causes of transmission failures
Communicate failure analysis and parts requirements clearly with parts staff, technicians, and the head builder / production manager
Follow established build procedures and quality control standards
Ensure proper part selection and verify updated specifications
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Comply with all safety policies and shop standards
Attend training classes and technical workshops to improve industry knowledge and stay current with evolving transmission technology
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Proven experience rebuilding late-model automatic transmissions
Experience with modern electronic and hydraulic transmission systems
Ability to read technical manuals, bulletins, and updated build specifications
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Familiarity with common failure points in 8–10 speed platforms
Experience working in a high-volume production environment preferred
Strong attention to detail

Work Environment and Demands
This job takes place in an automotive shop. The noise level is usually high. You will be exposed to prevailing weather and environmental conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, dust, and various chemicals used in automotive systems. Personal protective equipment is required.
