Target Hospitality is seeking an experienced Chef to lead kitchen operations in our remote camp environments.
This is an ideal opportunity for chefs who enjoy responsibility, structure, and long rotation schedules with time off.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As Head Chef, you will be accountable for day-to-day kitchen operations while fostering a strong safety and service culture.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Lead all kitchen operations with a strong focus on safety, HACCP, FIFO, and SOP compliance
• Coordinate food preparation, production, and timely meal service
• Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff and new team members
• Work closely with the Chef daily on menu planning, production strategy, and quotas
• Ensure menus are prepared accurately and in sufficient quantities
• Operate and oversee industrial kitchen equipment (grills, mixers, tilt skillets, steam kettles, convection ovens)
• Maintain inventory levels to ensure a minimum 2 week supply, adjusting for resupply delays
• Track inventory usage and recommend ordering requirements
• Schedule staff, assign responsibilities, and conduct daily safety meetings
• Keep menu boards updated each meal period
• Deliver world class customer service that exceeds guest expectations
• Participate in employee reviews and emergency response procedures
• Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is hands on and physically demanding:
• Standing for up to 12+ hour shifts with scheduled breaks
• Lifting to 50 lbs. (with assistance when required)
• Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand motions
• Working in hot and cold environments
• Navigating tight or congested kitchen spaces
• Exposure to elevated noise levels at times
Work Schedule:
• Rotational schedule (typically 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off, based on business needs)
• Willingness to work and travel away from home for extended periods
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• 3+ years of culinary experience, preferably in remote camps, hotels, or high volume hospitality environments
• Strong leadership and team building skills
• Excellent time management and prioritization abilities
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Food Safe Certification (asset)
• First Aid Certification (asset)
• Must pass a background check and urine analysis
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the facility
