VERY ORNATE LEATHER BOUND BOOKS! MANY PICTURES, HISTORY & INFO WITHIN!
SOME OF THESE HAVE OLD PHOTOS FROM THE 1800s IN THE FAMILY ALBUMS IN THE BACK OF THE BIBLE!
I have a collection of 11 large old leather bound Bibles.
Half of them still have the really cool original metal clasps to hold the book shut.
They are all from either the 1870s or the 1880s.
Most of these Bibles are written in the English language.
There are a few of them that are German, and one of them is Swedish.
Almost all of these Bibles have a Bible history and encyclopedia at the very beginning of the Bible. We’re talking about a couple of hundred pages of information and almost every page is filled with really cool Illustrations.
You would never think that they would have this much information about history back then. But it’s very concise and exhaustive. It was basically their Internet of the day ha ha.
So the condition of these Bibles:
The way these large leather bound Bibles will usually be found is that the front cover is detached because of the hinge on these has been weakened overtime from the front cover being open and closed many times over the course of 150 years.
Many of these Bibles have a detached or loose front cover or back cover.
But you have to remember that is very common with these.
It is extremely rare that you’ll find one of these large old leather Bibles with the front and back cover completely attached and secure. They exist, but they’re very expensive like $1500 per Bible if you were to find them online from a dealer.
A few of these Bibles have either a loose spine, loose cover, detached cover or detached back cover.
But the cool thing is that all of these Bibles are complete.
No missing front cover or back cover and no missing pages.
It’s just that most of them have some kind of flaw like a detached cover or loose spine.
These old leather Bibles from the 1800s always had records in the middle of them. Marriages, births and deaths.
Many of these Bibles have recordings in them from the 1800s all the way up to the 1930s.
And a couple of these Bibles even have really cool original authentic photos in them from the 1800s that are placed within the family albums in the very back.
I am asking $400 for each Bible.
No, I will not sell you the entire lot of them for a huge discount.
They are on display at my house and I enjoy them very much. So I don’t mind having them for a long time before they sell.
