Group seeking volunteers to help families who are struggling in our economy to have a holiday.

This group was made to help connect families who otherwise wouldn't have a Christmas with someone who wants to make a holiday wish come true.

Times are truly hard for many right now. Families are losing their jobs and homes.This group's goal is to help find adopters who can help these families during difficult times. We're currently seeking volunteers before so we can help as many families as possible with christmas presents, clothing, or Christmas and Thanksgiving Dinner.
So if you can help a family or would like to donate something you think would help a child please join our group and sign up to help. You select the family you want to assist and you contact them directly.

HabiJax ReStore Description: The ReStore is a home improvement store stocked entirely with donations. Open to the public, the ReStore creates profit that goes back to HabiJax to build homes for low income families.

Position Description: The main role as a cashier at the HabiJax ReStore is to ring up items that customers wish to purchase. This position also involves greeting each customer as they enter the store, helping to tidy the register area, as well as answering basic questions about Habitat for Humanity and HabiJax.

Qualifications: Volunteers must have a friendly, helpful attitude. They must be able to handle multiple demands under pressure. They must have basic math skills and a willingness to learn the cash register's operations. They must be interested in learning about Habitat For Humanity and be able to be an ambassador for HabiJax to customers entering the store.

Hours: Volunteer shifts are from 2-6 Tuesday through Saturday. Flexible hours are available if necessary. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least two shifts a month for 3 months in this role.

my family has been building here since the 60's. Part of my job for the past two years was to research "The JEA Monopoly Pig" and what was coming. I am very concerned for all Jacksonville citizens because so many are out of work and JEA will be and has already started doubling or more all JEA bills. I've received heart breaking emails. One even from a family with a child on an ox tank & electrical machine a life or death mater. Yet JEA had no regard for the child's well being. Gave no notice of a doubled JEA bill. Seeing the parent has to stay home and take care of the child they only have their ss money. Even after she told JEA about the situation and tried to work something out their electric was cut off. This makes me sick!!

The Native American Academy is looking for the use of a class A RV for the next year. Any year, make or model as long as it is road worthy. The Academy is in the process of surveying onsite land use at several reservations across the US to build barns and equine educational centers. We are looking for Board Members to sit on our board and help with the growth and direction of our Not-For-Profit. We are a small, but quickly growing soccer club with a goal to be more than a club. We're not your traditional soccer club located in one community and only serving that community. Instead, we have programs starting this Spring across Duval and St. Johns County and are looking to spread to other areas in the near future. We also just launched Soccer4Change...an innovative project that allows youth soccer players to develop programs/projects/events that use soccer for social change across the world. We have a ton going on and we are looking for leadership.

With only 1 to 2 scheduled meetings per month, the time you must commit to PURE FC is small, but the impact you'll have is huge.

Our program consists of our online community, resource centers in children's hospitals, and community outreach. We periodically need volunteer help with mailings, telephone contact with pediatrician offices and community organizations, database updates, and general office support. Volunteers are needed to help check in competitors, assist judges, monitor competition, help exhibitors and organize entertainment.
Professional Artists compete for a $1,500.00 Grant.
Student Scholarships between $500.00 - $1,000.00 will be awarded.
Contest starts at 10:00 am with activities and entertainment all day,
Judging is at 2pm, Awards Ceremony and Celebration begins at 3pm... till the
Big SPLASH DOWN washes it all away at midnight!!!
There are several different positions and time spots during the day that need to be covered.

Help Us hold JEA Responsable - They are terrible neighbors

JEA has repeatedly refused to help a young family whos wife is 8 months pregnant. After many calls by concerned people, JEA is telling us they just dont care about their community. The wife has already gone into pre-mature labor due to the stress JEA has caused this young family. The family has $500 they can pay right now to get the power turned back on but JEA is making them pay the full ballance of $909. The family cannot come up with that amount as they are low income and not able to cover the outstanding ballance and likely will not be able to for a long while. I am seeking only housing for about 2 weeks as Im waiting on some commission checks that I can have mailed directly to me. I have about $300 on me that he doesnt know about. He controls the bank account.. its all about control with him.
I am seeking a single female , christian couple,church group, underground group that can put me up.. and leave. I dont need help leaving.. Im bringing a bag of clothes and my laptop.. and leaving everything behind. I cant be materialistic at this point ..my safety is more important.

AMEN AMEN on the egos, thugs, attitudes, and entitlements.
Please people, musicians, lovers, haters, ametuers and pros, orig's, covers -wherever you fit...
remember that as a performer, DJ, soloist, band, entertainer, whatever -you are hired by venues 99% of the time as...an INVESTMENT. (The rest just have the money for a little sugar and spice to entertain their guests).
Maybe instead of crying about how you're being undercut by other bands, prove yourself as a wise investment and how your extra fees will make the bar MORE $$. Swallow your pride and take the time to sit down with a bar owner/manager and let them tell you about the biz end of it.

It is possible to do very well in this town, but you're band will have to posses a midas touch, blessing every venue that hires you with big returns.

Ask a savy musician why it's not a good feeling to play in front of sparse crowd? Sure it sux singing to the walls, but it reflects to the owner that you are not a good investment. Just as one may think I should've bought Apple stock instead of Chrysler , the last thing you want is for an owner to think "I wish I had booked band X instead, these guys are killing me...They sure to talk big, cause I've been had"

Sure, sometimes it's out of your control. Sure, J-ville's a little weird; our brand of music is hard hitting from Southern Rock to modern metal etc, yet every bar in the tri county area is EMPTY if a big country act rolls into town?? Splain that?

The HabiJax ReStore is looking for some dedicated people comfortable with administrative duties to help the store with its daily functions!

HabiJax ReStore Description: The ReStore is a home improvement store stocked entirely with donations. Open to the public, the ReStore creates profit that goes back to HabiJax to build homes for low income families.

Position Description: In this role, volunteers will help with a variety of administrative work. This could include, but is not limited to, data entry, making telephone calls, and additional computer related tasks.

Qualifications: Volunteers must be accurate and precise. Knowledge of excel and Raisers Edge is a plus, however training can be provided to those who need it. People must be comfortable with a computer and willing to learn new skills.

Hours: Volunteer shifts are flexible- shifts can begin as early as 9am and end as late as 6pm at the discretion of the volunteer. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least four hours a week for 3 months in this role.

Location: 5800 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Fl 32207 (At the intersection of Beach and University)

As part of an outreach program between PUSH (people united to stop homelessness) and FNB (Food Not Bombs) we're looking for some people who would be willing to donate Mens vitamins for the homeless. These outreach programs feed the homeless once everyday, but the ability to properly breakdown the nutritional food they're given is dependent upon a proper intake of vitamins and minerals. We already supply them with some basic hygiene products such as toothbrushes, sanitizer, soaps, band-aids, etc. (but we could always use more of that as well).

If you would like to donate 'any' of these items to this cause please drop them off at 11250 Old. St. Augustine Rd.STE-15 (This is a UPS store) M-Fri. 10am-7pm or Sat 10am-2pm

Position Description: As a volunteer at the ReStore, you will be helping us with many different tasks that vary from day to day. Volunteers help to clean donated items, repair donated items, move donations from the back warehouse to the sales floor, organize stock that is on the floor, as well as perform other tasks that are needed to help with the daily business of the store.

Qualifications: Volunteers must enjoy working with their hands. Volunteers need to have a friendly attitude and a willingness to learn. Volunteers should be interested in learning about Habitat for Humanity and be able to be an ambassador to customers entering the store. It is a plus for volunteers to know about building supplies and appliances, however it is not required. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.

Hours: Volunteer shifts are 10-2 and 2-6 Tuesday through Saturday. Flexible hours are available if necessary.

They must have basic math skills and a willingness to learn the cash register's operations.
