The Academy of Dreams provides permanency for children in foster care. Foster Care is 24-hour out-of-home care for children whom have been subject to abuse or neglect unfortunately by their parents, or legal guardian. The parents or legal guardians are unable, neglect or refuse to provide for their children’s needs. The needs include food, clothing shelter, security, safety, guidance, education and comfort. The Academy of Dreams is a 6-bed facility-accepting male adolescent between the ages of 10 -17 years old The said non-profit organization gives foster children a second chance at life.
Position: Direct Care Specialist: Provide supervision, nurturance, and structure in a firm and respectful manner to children. Supervise, monitor, and document child’s use of prescribed and over-the counter medications; Maintain children records and daily log including - ensuring all necessary releases and consents are completed appropriately and signed by the appropriate persons. Assist children with house and school assignments as needed, - ensure that the facility is in a clean and orderly condition daily; keeping the facility in good repair. Must be able to supervise and participate in recreational activities such as football, softball, volleyball, basketball, and etc. Provide transportation for children as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or Equivalent;
Must be at least 21 years of age;
Must be able to cook
Previous experience is required,
Shifts available: 2nd Shift, Weekend Days, and PRN (on call)
Must be able to successfully pass a background check provided by F.D.L.E; No Criminal History;
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret reports such as discharge summaries;
Psychological Reports, Court documents, and etc;
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence;
Ability to speak before groups of children and community organizations;
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists;
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form;
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Florida Driver’s License;
Certification in First Aid;
Certification in C.P.R;
Certification in Water Safety Training;
